TD Summer Reading ClubEnter the TD Summer Reading Club – Canada’s largest, completely free reading club geared at kids ages 4-13. This summer’s theme is “Jungle”; kids can get lost in their imaginations while they read about exotic animals, safaris and far-away lands. TD Summer Reading Club is offered in partnership with Library and Archives Canada and the Toronto Public Library in libraries across Canada So how does this program work? It’s simple: kids can go to their local library or TD branch to receive a free reading kit and age-appropriate book list. As they read books and answer questions, they earn prizes like stickers and posters. Learning can’t really be any easier or more fun!

Baseball for Breast Cancer Charity Tournament and Family Fun DayThe 6th annual Baseball for Breast Cancer Tournament and Family Fun day is the only charity event in support of Breast Cancer that includes all of the local ladies leagues in Unionville and Markham. The day includes fun activities for the kids and is really designed to bring the entire family together to support a great cause. Last year over 160 players and their family and friends joined together to honor the fighters, the survivors, and the women lost to Breast Cancer. All proceeds support the Markham-Stouffville Hospital Foundation and York Region Breast Cancer Friends. For more information call 905-887-3357.

Restored, relocated heritage buildings dating from as early as the 1820s are situated behind the former Mount Joy Public School. Family Camp-InBring out the entire family and don’t forget your tent, since you’ll be camping out under the stars. Enjoy a wonderful afternoon with the family participating in a wide variety of activities from traditional games to mini-golf and from arts and crafts to learning about the environment. Once the stars start to shine, we’ll gather around and roast some marshmallows, sing a few camp fire songs and best of all, tell a few ghost stories.

Unionville Heritage & Big Band Festival Enjoy the last days of summer strolling Main Street Unionville as you explore our unique shops, restaurants and patios and learn about Unionville's cultural heritage. A long-time supporter of the arts and culture of Unionville, the merchants of Main Street present some of the biggest names and most talented Big Bands in the GTA. While you stroll the village between performances, take advantage of our great sidewalk sales all weekend long.

Milliken Children's Festival 2010

milliken childrens festivalThis year, the Milliken Children's Festival is celebrating its 12th year! This festival is York Region's largest children's event, featuring entertainment, crafts and activities for children from two to twelve at the heart of Markham in the Civic Centre. The event attracts families from across Markham - last year's record attendance reached 25,000! Free activities and entertainment for ages 2 to 12! Free hourly bus from Milliken C.C. to Markham Civic Centre starting at 9am.

Unionville Halloween on MainOn Sunday, October 31st, in the spirit of Halloween, the businesses of Main Street Unionville are hosting an old fashioned trick-or-treat from 12noon-4pm Sunday afternoon. Don’t miss your chance to dress up and collect some candy from our participating merchants on this spooky afternoon. The street is decorated and the ghosts and goblins are free to roam the street. Follow the pumpkins! Enjoy this family friendly, good neighbour day!
