Boomi Beads, fashionable medical bracelets is a sister-run company. Sid and Marcy started their business for a very special reason, their mother Boomi, who represented courage, dedication, family, support and kindness to them. 

Boomi lost her struggle with breast cancer in February 2005. During her illness, Sid’s son Griffin was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at 18 months of age. Griffin was very ill for an extended period of time before his diagnosis. He lost all of his words and his strength to walk. In honour of Griff, Boomi overcame her fear of needles so that she could administer his insulin shots and continue their special play dates together without any extended aid. The insulin regime recharged Griffin and put him on the path to recovery.

The sisters searched for a piece of jewellery, similar to a Medical ID bracelet, that alerts others to a persons medical condition in an emergency situation. They were unable to find anything fun or fashionable that Griffin, an active toddler, would enjoy wearing. Hence Boomi's Beads was born – a medical alert Bracelet that kids want to wear! The unique and colourful bracelets are each hand-made with love using the highest quality materials. They are beautiful, functional, durable and very special – just like Boomi!

Though the company is small, the sisters donate a portion of their proceeds to support several worthy causes including: Juvenile Diabetes, Breast Cancer Society, and the Autism Society of Canada.  And as they grow, their goal is support even more causes.
